Understanding batch identifiers and traceability

A batch identifier is the thread that ties a vial to its paperwork. Here is how ours are constructed and why the format matters.

Anatomy of an AUR batch code

Our identifiers follow the pattern AUR-XXX-YYMM. AUR is the supplier prefix, XXX is a three-character compound abbreviation, and YYMM encodes the production year and month.

The code is applied at fill, printed on the label, and carried onto the certificate of analysis before the batch is released to stock.

Why one code per production run

A batch identifier should describe a single homogeneous production run. Suppliers that reuse one code across months cannot tell you which material a given certificate describes.

Auditing a supplier in thirty seconds

Take the code from a vial, search the supplier's published results, and confirm the compound, purity and date all match. If the code does not resolve to a published record, the traceability claim is decorative.
