Where the colour comes from
In a copper-complexed tripeptide, a copper(II) ion is coordinated by the peptide backbone. Copper(II) complexes absorb in the red region of the visible spectrum, which is why the resulting lyophilisate presents as blue.
Intensity varies with fill depth and cake structure — a thin film can look pale while a dense cake looks vivid. Both are correct.
Using colour as a screening tool
A vial labelled GHK-Cu that contains white powder is a red flag worth escalating before any analytical work begins. Colour is not a substitute for a certificate, but it is a free, instant check.
The same applies to AHK-Cu and any blend containing a copper complex, such as KLOW or GHK-Cu with KPV.
Handling notes
Copper complexes are light-sensitive in solution. Reconstitute in amber vessels or wrap in foil, and keep working solutions cold and covered.
